Trip To Frankfurt With AJ - Bomb In OUR Hotel room?!

Snapseed 57.jpg

So if you haven't had a chance to look through my Travel photos (go on..have a scroll)  yet..then you won't know how much I love travelling. During the Black Friday sales last November, my friend AJ and I used this opportunity to book some cheap flights. We wanted to go somewhere we had never been before, so we decided on Frankfurt. Ryanair had flights for £20 for a return, Bargain right? we thought so too.

We arrived in Frankfurt, made our way to the arrival point, to then be told that our hotel was a two-hour bus ride away. LOOL we really thought it was a 20 minute WALK away (can y'all tell i'm still bitter about the whole thing?). Then we came to the realisation that we were at a completely different airport than we THOUGHT we had booked and we were at the equivalent of let's say London City and thought we would be landing at Heathrow.

As we got to the city centre AJ got a phone call from a Frankfurt number, she answered, to then be told that a bomb from WW2 had been found by our hotel, and the whole area had to be evacuated. At this point all we could do was laugh, as in we just stood there and laughed for a good 5 minutes, I'm pretty sure I shed a few tears. It was about 12 midday and we had been up since 4 am, it was freezing and we were knackered and all we wanted was a bed!

We eventually made it to our hotel, and as we arrived the hotel staff presented us with our options, we could either be refunded for the night and find another hotel for the 1 night or evacuate the hotel between 7pm and midnight as this was when the bomb was going to be removed from the vicinity. I mean AJ and I are cheap AF so we were not about to pay for another hotel, so of course, we went with option 2.

Anyways enough with story time.. on to the important stuff! Frankfurt is a beautiful city with beautiful scenery, bar the fact it was freezing and extremely windy - I was definitely pleasantly surprised, the people were lovely and I was able to get some really nice shots. More images will be added to my Travel folder soon, In the meantime, hopefully y'all can get a glimpse from the images below, happy viewing :)

Oh and we got reimbursed for the night we got evacuated from the hotel, I mean I know it wasn't their fault, but money is tight right? every little helps :)

Peace & Love
